on 31st December 1880 [registered 1881] at 5 Abbotsford Place, Glasgow, after Banns according to the Forms of the Church of Scotland, John Delaney, Brass Moulder, journeyman, bachelor, aged 21 of 117 Hospital Street, Glasgow, the son of Hugh
Delaney, Hand Loom Weaver and Elizabeth Delaney [nee Morgan]
      ---------------------------
It is assumed that on her marriage, Christina Maxwell could not write as she made her mark [X] for her signature on the marriage certificate. She reported that she was a Cotton Power Loom Weaver, spinster, aged 24, living at 10 Gilmour Street, Glasgow, and was the daughter of Cornelius Maxwell, Coal Miner and Ann Maxwell [nee Taylor].
Christina Maxwell and her family used to live in the Hangingshaw area of Glasgow which is situated between Glasgow and Rutherglen. There was a small row of houses there ?for the use of Miners and their families.

Witnesses : William Cribbs and Ellen Crease
There are recollections by the family, that Christina Maxwell had a deep gutteral country dialect - "Lailand Scots" [Lowland scots] accent which was certainly unlike the Glasgow accent.
