    DNA Explained Mitochondrial DNA
is the fact that this DNA is maternally inherited. Males and females inherit a copy of MtDNA from their mother. Nuclear DNA, on the other hand, is inherited equally from both parents; a child will inherit 50% of their nuclear DNA from the mother and the other 50% from their father.
A MtDNA copy is passed down entirely unchanged, through the maternal line. Males cannot pass their MtDNA to their offspring although they inherit a copy of it from their mother.

    • INFORMATION RELATING TO EDNA GLASS [DORNBLASER]

Extract from email sent to me by Deborah Huffman [dhuffman@nwlink.com] in 2009
Deborah is a relative of Edna Glass

Sadly, Gerald & Edna's adoptive mother Mary died when Edna was about
10-12 years old. Attached is a copy of Mary's obit, which mentions the children. Dr Dornblaser remarried (not sure when) and the family story is that the second wife did not get along with the children, so they went to live with Dr Dornblaser's sister, Mrs. Josephine Walters, when they were teenagers.

In 1938, Edna met my grandfather Eugene Morton Hodgson Sr. on a blind date, they were married in May of 1939 in Chicago. As you can see from the attached wedding announcements--the Walters family issued the wedding invitation--not Dr Dornblaser.

Edna (always know as "Eddie) and Eugene ("Gene") lived in Louisville Kentucky & later Lexington Kentucky--then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in approx 1958. Eugene worked for thread & textile manufacturing companies--lastly a company called American & Efird--he was Vice President in charge of manufacturing when he died of an aneurysm in 1969. Gene & Eddie had 2 daughters-Anne Elizabeth Hodgson
      (m. William Edward Huffman & #2-Richard Neal Watkins) & Susan Clayton Hodgson( m. Mark Wellington Steele), and 2 grand-daughters Deborah Anne Huffman & Harper Elizabeth Steele.

Eddie died in 1998 in Charlotte--she never remarried after Gene's death. They are both buried in Charlotte NC. She had a somewhat strict & forbidding character that I never really understood, until I delved into her family story--which is full of loss. I think she was distant with people because they had often vanished on her, or let her down. She was a meticulous housekeeper & a stickler on manners--things she could control.
