      It is assumed that on her marriage, Christina Maxwell could not write as she made her mark [X] for her signature on the marriage certificate. She reported that she was a Cotton Power Loom Weaver, spinster, aged 24, living at 10 Gilmour Street, Glasgow, and was the daughter of Cornelius Maxwell, Coal Miner and Ann Maxwell [nee Taylor].
      Christina Maxwell and her family used to live in the Hangingshaw area of Glasgow which is situated between Glasgow and Rutherglen. There was a small row of houses there ?for the use of Miners and their families.

      There are recollections by the family, that Christina Maxwell had a deep gutteral country dialect - "Lailand Scots" [Lowland scots] accent which was certainly unlike the Glasgow accent.

      Iron Moulder in Scotland, Migrated to Australia around 1914 after his first child Jack was born. Second child Elspeth (My Nan) was born shortly after in 1916 at Ryde in Sydney. 2 more children (George and Joyce) would follow. Spent his final years at a retirement home at Belmore in Sydney.
